Soulpower
Soulpower is a measure of a character's ability to use soul magic, both in terms of strength and finesse. This doesn't necessarily determine how good the character is at magic, of course; enchanting and ritual casting can both be done with very little soulpower. It is, however, the most personal and instinctive form of magic. A character with a high soulpower score will be good at:
- Manipulating the world through Soul Specializations
- Instinctively sensing impending danger
- Performing many Ritual Casting spells
- Resisting the effects of magic
What Do The Scores Mean?

| 2 | Somewhat common, oblivious seeming person | Only able to sense other souls when being actively targeted by magic. |
| 3 | Average, reasonably coordinated person. | Can muster faint telekinesis in dire moments or "just knows" when a stranger is watching. |
| 4 | Somewhat common, hobbyist magician. | Can perform cantrips like shifting or heating small objects consistently. |
| 5 | Uncommon, usually a village mystic. | Can levitate small objects or sense the presence of powerful emotions. |
| 6 | Rare, usually an esteemed Mage. | Can see brief flashes of the future or inspire specific thoughts in others. |
| 7 | Extremely rare, once in a generation. | Can perfectly identify and describe a person's appearance and mood without even looking. |
| 8 | Superhuman. | Able to read omens of the future or bring people back from the dead. |
*This section reflects what a person with these stats may naturally intuit and learn to control over the course of a normal life. An Archmage dropped to 1 soulpower would still be able to potently control what little strength she retains, and a regular man instantly brought to an 8 would likely have no control over the newfound power.
If your soulpower score is reduced to 0 your soul becomes completely inert, meaning you cannot use soul magic and your soul offers no resistance against spells. You begin feeling a distinct emptiness and start to experience heavy insomnia.
If your soulpower score reaches a negative number, this means that your soul is beginning to deteriorate. You remain completely awake and aware, but begin to feel an intense and surreal pain across your entire body. Any rolls you make have their dice pool reduced by the negative number. If you lose consciousness for any reason, you instantly die and your body becomes a ghast. You cannot be ressurected.
